>>>Moving beyond ‘good thanks’

Hi there,

Tell me, how are you feeling? How are you really feeling? Too often, female entrepreneurs give ‘good thanks’ as their standard answer to that question, without giving any depth of thought to the accuracy of their answer. A huge chunk of my work is helping women get beyond ‘good thanks’ to cut to the core of their feelings so they can really step into their potential, and that of their business.

There is no escaping the fact that the health of your business is a direct reflection of your personal health. When you’re feeling harried and overwhelmed, it’s easy to forgo the beautiful fresh salad for lunch and hit the fat-laden, nutrient-empty muffin at 3pm to get you through the afternoon - that’s if you eat at all!

Movement gets dropped in lieu of time at the desk, and self-care? That gets relegated further and further down the to-do list until it either becomes one more time pressure to feel bad about or it falls off completely.

This clearly isn’t sustainable and the impact on you personally and on your business can’t be underestimated.

I truly, wholeheartedly believe that self-care is at the heart of a thriving business. It’s simple; as you’ve heard countless times, you have to put on your own oxygen mask before you can help others.

I actually really love this analogy because it is so powerful in it’s clarity. Obviously, the implementation isn’t always simple!

In my work with six figure female solopreneurs I regularly find that a flippant ‘good thanks’ approach gets in the way of the work needed to implement good, meaningful and regular self-care practices in their daily lives. They simply soldier on, until their body (or their business) gives them the clear message that battling on is no longer an option.

So how do I help women get beyond ‘good, thanks’? Through my gentle, yet persistent coaching approach. I’m not interested in the superficial - I know my clients are so much more than that and I know that the success and growth of their business requires depth.

Together, we unpick what’s not working in their lives and in their biz. We get some good, basic nutrition happening to fire up their energy stores.

Sometimes a lack of clarity around their vision is contributing to their general sense of malaise so we work towards gaining a clear vision to drive them forward.

Sometimes, that pesky monkey chatter and their inner mean girl are just too loud, so we implement some actions designed to banish those damaging messages.

Bottom line: we find language around how they’re really feeling so we can move past the obstacles and barriers that are holding them back.

Most significantly, my clients and I work with a commitment to honesty, even if it’s admitting something, perhaps seen as a weakness, that we’ve never allowed ourselves to do before.

There’s great relief in honouring one’s truth - and you don’t have to do it alone. If you know ‘good thanks’ isn’t an accurate portrayal of how you are feeling, please get in touch with me.

To your success…
